Summary

The Email Platform Specialist, an expert on Salesforce Marketing Cloud, serves as the analyzer of digital programs and campaigns, conveyor of wisdom, and proposer of strategic enhancements and innovations for all things SFMC for one of CDR’s largest non-profit clients. From deliverability to file health and growth, to data integration, to automated journeys, the Specialist has a deep and thorough knowledge of the technical capabilities of SFMC and knows how to utilize SFMC’s robust features and functionality to deliver an A+, highly integrated, personalized digital program. Working closely with the strategy and client teams to determine current needs and develop a roadmap for the future, the ideal candidate is an expert on the technical side of SFMC with a strong ability to devise plans, articulate them in layman’s terms, and implement them to improve the digital program and streamline use of the SFMC platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions as institutional expert on the Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) platform.
  • Assists with the SFMC solution design process, including developing, documenting, and implementing journeys, writing queries, building, and maintaining data extensions and segmentation groups, writing AMPScripts, and utilizing Apex.
  • Recommends opportunities for automation and improvement of current processes to increase efficiencies.
  • Assists in the design of marketing automation programs, including triggered sends, Automation Studio activities, platform configuration, multi-channel integrations, audience segmentation, personalization, and other components as needed for marketing campaigns.
  • Performs routine audits of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud ecosystem and CRM/data integrations.
  • Gathers and analyzes business requirements, determine scope, and drive implementation of requests, changes, and enhancements.
  • Provides SFMC users with technical support where needed.
  • Debugs campaign automation solutions as well as maintain and troubleshoot in-flight solutions
  • Provides guidance on application and integration development best practices, functional and technical solutions, architecture, and design, environment management, testing, and Salesforce platform education.
  • Troubleshoots implementation issues and drive to successful resolution.
  • Identifies and proactively manages areas of risk.
  • Explains complex technical concepts in layman’s terms for less technical audiences.
  • Stays current on Salesforce Marketing Cloud releases, evaluate new features as they’re deployed, and maintain strong knowledge of best practices.
  • Stays up to date on the latest email marketing and platform standards, technologies, best practices, and
  • Performs any and all other duties as assigned.

 

Skills:

  • Experience with SFMC Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder, Contact Builder, Marketing Cloud Connector, MobileConnect.
  • Knowledge of scripting language such as HTML, JavaScript, AMPScript, Apex, SSJS, SQL, and Python for emails, landing pages, SMS, and push notifications.
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce Marketing Cloud best practices and functionality.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as .NET or JAVA, Ruby, C#, C++, Python a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to think creatively and critically.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate business requests to meet objectives.
  • Working knowledge of web API services (SOAP, XML, JSON, REST) and integrating third-party APIs a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex projects; a resourceful self-starter who can take initiative and follow through on projects.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical details to a non-technical audience and willingness to teach and to learn.
  • Prior experience working in an agency environment is a plus.
  • Good communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Analytical, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Deep knowledge, experience, and interest in digital marketing and passion to stay current with the latest industry trends.
  • Friendly, customer-service oriented attitude.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of Experience with database schema design, data cleansing/appending, data exporting.
  • 2+ years developing and integrating Marketing Cloud with different Salesforce applications.
  • 2+ years of experience with REST, Salesforce, database and SFTP connectors.
  • SFMC certification a plus (Salesforce Marketing Cloud Consultant, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist, and/or Salesforce Admin).
