CDR FUNDRAISING GROUP ACCOUNT DIRECTOR

Description:

The Account Director drives the overall strategic direction for a group of agency clients.  The Account Director works closely with company leadership by supervising account team members, directing all aspects of program growth: budgeting, strategy development, channel integration, client relationship, and analytical/reporting oversight.


 

Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

 

Strategy

  • Responsible for campaign strategy across all channels.
  • Analyzes results of campaigns and recommends programs to be expanded.  Must be able to report on all channel activity and the impact of one channel upon another.
  • Conducts test programs to measure effectiveness of media, list, creative, and offer.
  • Contributes to the quarterly and annual business forecasting by providing account trends and sharing future client needs.
  • Defines fundraising programs to support client message and quality standards.
  • Develops and implements new and innovative approaches to provide, expand or improve current practices.
  • Forecasts the cash flow (donations & mailing costs) for assigned clients.
  • Reviews and evaluates market research to use in forecasting future direct mail fundraising requirements.
  • Shares ideas and client needs throughout all phases of client life cycle (plan, design, integrate, implement, manage).

 

Client Services/Program Management

  • Contact clients on a regular basis to maintain account relationship, advise of new service offerings, and obtain feedback on service.
  • Develops long term strategic plans designed to ensure account retention, continued account success and realistic program expansion.
  • Develops offer(s), target revenues, and response rates based on list quantities and costs.
  • Develops short term strategic plans designed to ensure client satisfaction by identifying customer issues and offering creative and timely solutions to those issues.
  • Develops and implements strategies to maintain and/or expand fundraising programs for assigned clients.
  • Identifies target market segments by demographic and/or psychographic characteristics.
  • Interfaces with the client to understand the client's overall objectives and requirements.
  • Prepares a plan for each account to identify what and how short- and long-term needs may be met.
  • Provides reports on the budget and donor activity for each assigned client.
  • Will research and coordinate implementation activities of off-site agencies, database suppliers, caging vendors and other service providers including wealth screening, modeling, etc.
  • Tracks and analyzes results of test mailing programs and recommends programs to be expanded.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Staff Management

  • Assists account executives in development of plans and budgets.
  • Communicates significant program information to management team and other departments.  Ensures that appropriate agency resources are available.
  • Ensures that sales, marketing, production, and list departments provide support to assigned accounts/clients.
  • Expedites the resolution of client problems/complaints.
  • Serves as a point of escalation for issues or activities that the client encounters.

 

Business Development/Industry Involvement

  • Prepares and conducts presentations for clients and prospective clients.
  • Strives to continuously stay informed about industry standards and best practices.
  • Participates in trade shows by representing CDR and sharing information on company services.

Skills:

 

  • Must have strong direct response knowledge.
  • Must have expertise in one or more of the following channels: mail, digital, telemarketing and DRTV.
  • Agency experience with a focus on partnering with nonprofit organizations, successfully advocating for the client and their donors alike.
  • Exceptional talent for managing client relationships.
  • Ability to develop annual plans and projections, effective strategic planning capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently on multiple deadline-oriented projects, and adaptable to changing conditions and requirements.
  • Exceptional and persuasive written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with staff, community leaders and senior level executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a creative and resourceful problem solver.
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgement.
  • Strong ability to provide analysis and strategy for client services and to stay abreast of current industry trends, including post promotion analysis.
  • Ability to remain calm and collected under pressure, adaptable and flexible in an ever-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, driven and goal oriented.
  • Demonstrated outstanding organizational, time management and planning expertise.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Effectively manages personnel.
  • Excellent general computer skills, with strong proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from accredited college or university required; Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience:

 

  • A minimum of 10 years’ senior experience in national, nonprofit, direct response fundraising with a clear focus on direct mail, integration with multiple channels and at least 5 years in a management and leadership position.
  • In addition to national, nonprofit direct mail, significant experience in all direct response fundraising channels, including telemarketing, digital acquisition, digital marketing, and DRTV (preferred, but not required).
