TOWN HALL MEETING
CREATING VALUABLE SERVICES FOR DMA-NF MEMBERS IN CHALLENGING TIMES
Facilitated by Joel Zimmerman, Director of Consulting Services, CDR Fundraising Group
Visual recording by Kristin Sinclair, Assistant Art Director, CDR Fundraising Group
Please join us in this facilitated, interactive, open dialog among DMA-NF members. We’re inviting you to help us in this experiment using a new format as a way of hearing from, and exchanging ideas with, our members. The meeting will be a combination of a town hall and brainstorming session. We want to begin a dialog around how DMA-NF can do the best possible job of providing educational programs and research services to its members in these challenging times. To do this, we plan to invite your ideas about a wide range of topics, such as: How can DMA-NF best serve you with conferences, educational programs and Webinars? What critical topics do you want to get information about? What other forms of distance learning might we arrange for our members? What sorts of research information would you find helpful that DMA- NF could provide? Bring in your creative ideas, or come in just to listen to the exchange and express your opinions.

WRITING LETTERS OF INTENT
Presented by Nancy Withbroe, CFRE, Manager of Consulting Services, CDR Fundraising Group
Writing a letter of inquiry (LOI) to a foundation can be much more challenging than writing a full grant proposal, due to space constraints. Using the LOI format suggested by Washington Grantmakers, this session will review the major components of an LOI and offer tips on how to write concisely and persuasively so that your LOI stands out from the competition. Participants will critique actual LOIs and receive a list of online and print resources for further study.

INTEGRATING DIRECT RESPONSE AND MAJOR-GIFTS FUNDRAISING
FOR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN SUCCESS
Presented by Nancy Withbroe, CFRE, Manager of Consulting Services, CDR Fundraising Group
and Laura Zylstra, Managing Consultant, New England, Skystone Ryan
Most capital campaigns raise the vast majority of their goal from a handful of donors, solicited individually by volunteers and staff, then end with a public phase in which many small gifts are secured. Few campaigns take full advantage of direct marketing and new media techniques to maximize mid-level and lower-level donor engagement. In this session we discuss techniques that integrates major gift and direct marketing best practices to secure support and deepen relationships with a broader range of public phase campaign donors.
